  2. I am an Iowan too, though from waaaay back in the mid 1800s in a town called Old Rippey, which no longer exists, but my street, LOVEJOY ST. still stands on a corner. And, we used google maps to find our family’s cemetery right smack in the middle of a corn field. When we walked up the hill and through the gate, we were flabbergasted by my family’s monuments and by the feelings we experienced. I love Iowa and have great friends in Odebolt, Des Moines, and other areas. Des Moines has my new novel in the battle of the books and I recently did a wonderful Skype interview with a group of exceptional readers from Waterloo, Iowa (where I once attended a fireman’s ball). Love my Iowa connections! Thanks for what you do!

Wonderful! Thanks so much for your comments. We love all Iowans, old, new, even thinking about moving here Iowans. (I’m not a native, so I can welcome everyone, right?) The Des Moines Battle of the Books list is always a great one; I’ve used it to recommend books to kids and parents who are looking for really good stuff. I’m always finding things on it that are great reads, including yours! Thanks for putting stories out there that reach all kinds of readers.

So glad I found your blog through Beth at the Nerdy Book Club. I’m a preschool teacher, passionate about reading-aloud and writing about what happens in my classroom. I look forward to reading more on your blog!
