Truth in advertising — Far Out Fairy Tales

fairy tales

Cinderella is a ninja warrior.  Red Riding Hood is a superhero.  The Three Billy Goats Gruff are buffed up gamer types.  Snow White has seven robots.  Hansel and Gretel are zombies.  Far out!

This graphic collection takes classic fairy tales and twists them, giving the characters new things to do and turning some stereotypes upside down.  At the end of each section is a description of the original version, along with a guide that shows how their version is different.  (Very educational!)

It’s a super quick read, fun, and funny, too.  I could live without the zombies, but only because, honestly, any kind of zombies creep me out.  It’s a great blend of the familiar with something a little different, and it would work with younger readers, as well as open-minded teens and adults.  Read on.
